A New Map:  CTF-Gods  by Pat "Bad Karma" Fitzsimons

Egyptian Eye Candy on a CTF Map:

CTF-The Gods

Gigantic symmetrical pyramids form the basic plan...

Stunning Egyptian imagery is found everywhere...

CTF-The Gods is a large and beautiful CTF offering from map-maker Pat "Bad Karma" Fitzsimons. The entire map is based on the usual "Two Forts" design. In the final analysis, however, there is nothing standard at all about CTF-The Gods in either its appearance or in its game-play. The map ran on a test-bed machine consisting of a P-III 600Mhz CPU with a VooDoo3 2000 video card using Glide. There are a few minor frame-rate issues if you climb up on the pyramids, but at ground level and inside the bases it runs as smooth as glass even with a full load of the Cat Bots on it.

The map is completely symmetrical in both its layout and in the placement of the weapons and pick-ups. This is a map that is not overloaded with too many power-ups. I do not believe that it has either a Keg-O-Health or Invisibility. To compensate for this fact, the author has included two Damage Amplifiers on each side of the map. In the weapons inventory, all seem to be present with two very notable exceptions: There are no Redeemers and there are no Sniper Rifles to be found.

BDB's MapVote 3.02 Offers Several Cool New Features

BDB Updates the MapVote Mutator:

BDB's MapVote 3.02

Changes in the voting window...

BDB has provided us with a beta version of the next release of the MapVote mutator. MapVote 3.02 incorporates several new features which will greatly enhance its use on the Stuffed Cats Inc. Server. The most significant change is that the new version of the mutator will allow players to select an alternate Game Type as well as maps. All of the current maps in the server's inventory will appear in the MapVote voting window twice. Each map will be listed with the prefix CTF, for a standard Capture the Flag game and it will also be listed with the prefix CRTF if the players choose to use the same map in the Carry the Flag game mode.

The map Repeat Limit is set to 4 maps as usual. Once a map has been played it will not be available in the same game type until four more maps have been cycled. It may, however, be played in the other game type. In other words, as shown in the screenshots above, Atje's_Towers may not be played as a CTF map, but it may be played as a CRTF map. The reverse is true for ArcticOutpost][. The names of the maps that are out of the rotation for the 4-cycle period will appear in RED. If a player selects an out of cycle map, the Vote Button will not function and the player will see a message telling them that the map they have selected cannot be voted for at this time. No downloads are required for MapVote 3.02.

The Big Cat Women by Australian Artist Stuart Rumbel

The Big Cat Skin Pack is coming:

Tantala has made some new friends...

Australian Artist Stuart Rumbel has expanded the Abbey-Tantala Skin by adding three more distinct subjects. Rrliss the Lioness, Furness the Female Cheetah, and Lasharrl the Leopardess will all be joining Tantala the Tigress. All four of the skins have the full array of team colors and will function in any Unreal Tournament game type.

I am sorry to say, however, that at the moment the skin pack only works in non-network games. I have been able to make any single one of the individual skins function on the servers, but cannot get all four of them to work simultaneously. As time permits, I am certain that Skin-Meister Puma and I will get this problem resolved. In the mean-time, the Abbey-Tantala Skin will continue to be available for use on the servers. Once the entire pack is useable on the Dead Cat servers, I will make them available on the Filez page for downloading. Until then, follow the links below for a better look at all four skins in all four of their colors.

I Think They've Finally Got It Right: The Return of CSHP

CSHP Release 49 - Version 01.07.13 will run tonight:

Client Side Hack Protection

The client-side CSHP verification notice

Client Side Hack Protection, in the form of CSHP Release 49 - Version 01.07.13, will run tonight on the Stuffed Cats Inc. Server. I've never stopped testing the different release versions of CSHP. I have, however, always had one problem or another with them once they reach the server. Version 49 seems to have done the trick. A number of people helped me to test it and no one had any problems at all either getting on the server, or with their game-play once they had connected. There were no reports of lag or jumpiness caused by the presence of the CSHP program. I scrutinized the entire server log, after switching more than 20 individual maps using MapVote3, and encountered no errors or problems whatsoever.

When you connect to the server, you will see the Client Verification Notice in the lower left-hand corner of your screen, as shown in the picture above. I can't speak for anyone else, but as for me; I am really very tired of explaining to people that y'all do not cheat and that, in fact, you actually are that good in the game. It is a genuine compliment to everyone's skill level that other players actually believe that we're cheating. Nonetheless, it is also an incredible pain having to explain it over and over again. Hopefully, the use of this version of CSHP will put an end to the matter once and for all.
